Monitoring Notes

The 10.7 cm solar flux and daily SSN continue to be at very low levels, 92
and 37 respectively, so
long-distance multi-hop propagation above 14 MHz will be unreliable on
darkness, or semi-darkness paths.

Did you notice the arrival of the December solstice recently! It has now
passed, and as a result propagation patterns into Melbourne are now
changing.

I was in the Dandenong Ranges National Park on January 2 and 3, 2011, on
photography and hiking excursions in the Olinda Forest, and whilst there, I
had an opportunity to do dome spectrum research in the early afternoon.

This consolidated two-day summary may be of interest.
