Monitoring Report - 13 MHz spectrum

I did some research in the 13 MHz band this morning, in the Melbourne pre-dawn window.

This is what the band looked like between 1800 and 1830 – most activity was from Asia/Africa/ME/Europe, short path across the darkness zone.

13620 IRAN French at *1820
13630 BOTSWANA VOA Portuguese
13640 INDIA Arabic
13650 KUWAIT R . Kuwait Arabic
13660 UAE BBC-Dhabbaya Arabic
13695 INDIA English
13715 SRI LANKA VOA-Iranawila "Hello Darfur"- Sudanese
13740 FRANCE RFI-Issoudin French
13755 SRI LANKA VOA-Iranawila English
13765 VATICAN VR-SMG Portuguese
13820 USA R.Marti  Greenville – interesting long-path propagation

Note: VOA pumping English and Sudanese content from Iranawila (Sri Lanka) into East Africa – 250 kW. Lots of back-lobe energy into Melbourne via the Indian Ocean/Asia path. Primary azimuth is  275 (13715) and 285 (13755) degrees – we get this via 85/75 degrees. Must be mega-sigs in East Africa!
