Another excellent mid-summer daytime propagation mode event appeared on February 2, 2018, with strong signals from Asia on 7, 9, 11, and 13 MHz across the time period 0315 to 0430, early afternoon here in Melbourne. Signals from other continents were also present, via conventional multi-hop F layer propagation modes.

 

The Asian propagation mode was primarily via Es, E and Trans Equatorial modes over total daylight paths, from China, Taiwan, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Korea Republic and North Korea.

 

This summary may be of interest – most transmissions from China (CRI, CNR1, CNR2, CNR5) have been omitted! Reception was at a field monitoring site in the large Westerfolds' Park, Templestowe, in Melbourne's outer east, using the Sangean 808A,  and a 5 m random antenna tossed into a small tree.
