16 shows small increases for the 10.7 cm solar flux - 86 - and the smoothed
sunspot number at 29.
Propagation research here in Melbourne revealed that MUFs/OWFs for the
shortpath mode from Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, following the
darkness zone from the west, have been around 14 MHz in the window 1900 to
2200. Until recently, this had been as low as 11 MHz. Longpath from the
Americas was also apparent, also arriving here from the west.
The 13 MHz band provides a useful platform for study of these propagation
patterns as the Melbourne Spring approaches!
