MONITORING RESEARCH

 

A relatively electrically quiet location for HF monitoring in  the daytime period is at Westerfolds' Park, Templestowe, adjacent to the Yarra River, in Melbourne's outer east.

 

Good signals were observed at that location on October 17 2015 in our mid-afternoon window, in the 11 MHz spectrum.

 

The dominant transmission modes were long path from Europe, Africa and the Middle east, and short path from the Americas and Asia.

 

This summary of notable occupancies may be of interest, using the Eton E5 and two metres of antenna, from the Porter St Picnic Reserve, across the UT time span 0415 to 0430.
