I was in the South Hill old gold-mining area of the Warrandyte State Park on Sep 30, 2013.
Sadly, no gold, but I did discover some interesting propagation during the mid-afternoon window, using the small Eton radio and a 2 m antenna.

VOIRI has retimed many (all?) of its transmissions, which re now heard opening and closing ten minutes earlier, such as *0450 (instead of *0500) etc..

VOA and RFA continue to operate to a complex schedule for their 21 MHz Chinese and Tibetan services for local daytime reception across Asia. At any given time, some services use different frequencies on a rotating basis – different freqs for each day!.
Here are the results, looking at 11 MHz, 13 MHz, and 21 MHz, in the 0430 to 0530 window:
11820 – 11840
This spectrum block is now noted with in-band DRM transmissions in French from R. Romania International from 0500-0530*. This is a massive 300 KW, azimuth 285 degrees, effectively destroying use of this spectrum area by other broadcasters. The "centre" frequency is 11830. If it is really necessary to use DRM, these transmissions should be placed well away from in-band channels!
