It's been warm here in Melbourne recently! Yesterday's maximum was 42 degrees on my back veranda. I had to give my six pet goldfish some iceblocks to cool them down! Today expected to be the same. Spent time at my local swimming centre yesterday (Aqualink Box Hill) Did my usual 300 metres of laps. There are six pools at the Centre. I think that half the kids from my suburb were also there – the other half were at the local cinema watching "The Penguins"!
In the meantime, SW propagation continues to be good – the 11 MHz band is always full of surprises ... this morning pre-sunrise long path signals from the Americas were apparent, arriving here from the west after crossing  the Middle East and Asia. The usual cluster of African transmitters were also there for the taking!
This summary of notable frequency occupancies of January 2 2014 1800 to 1830 may be of interest. Melbourne sunrise this morning 6.03 am – 1903 UTC.
