MONITORING RESEARCH
Solar activity is currently extremely low – the 10.7 cm Solar Radio Flux has dropped to 74, and the Daily Smoothed Sunspot Number has ranged from one to 11, according to Radio and Space Services in Sydney.
These miserably low levels are not expected to change significantly in coming days.
This means that long-haul, multi-hop propagation across darkness or semi-darkness paths on frequencies above about 15 MHz will continue to be unreliable.
Here in Melbourne it's winter, and good propagation continues on 11 MHz in our pre-sunrise window from all continents, following the darkness zone from the west and north.
This is a summary of notable frequency occupancies across the time span 1830 to 1900 on June 30, 2016.
