To all,
A report in a hobby newsgroup, quoting a message from someone at Radio Australia, says that the planned DRM transmissions from Shepparton, to carry Radio Australia English programs commencing April 1 2012 , have been "delayed". This is the text of the message:
"We struck some unforeseen delays in establishing the DRM schedule from Shepparton. Of course we are as excited as anyone in getting DRM on the
schedule. We see it as a very useful second tier distribution means into remote locations (for feeding small FM community stations) and hope to see it very
soon"
schedule. We see it as a very useful second tier distribution means into remote locations (for feeding small FM community stations) and hope to see it very
soon"
This is the official planned schedule, as posted on the DRM Website:
0100-0300 19000 CPac
0700-0900 7410 SWPac
0900-1100 9475 SWPac
1100-1300 6080 WPac
1300-1500 9890 CPac
1500-1700 5940 SEA
1700-1900 9475 SEA
Hard to understand the meaning of "small FM community stations" in "remote locations!" Difficult to imagine such stations investing in expensive professional DRM receivers, as there are no consumer receivers available!
RA has been using Brandon for some years for DRM English services during evening hours, three hours daily to Papua New Guinea and to the Pacific islands on 5995 1200-1400, and 12080 1100-1200.
Proposed frequency choices seem bizarre – 9475 is ALREADY in use from Shepparton 0700-1900; 9890 is currently used by FEBC 0900-1100.
Regards!
Bob P.
