I was in the Warrandyte State Park, yesterday, 15 km east of central Melbourne, and did some propagation research with the litler Eton E5 radio, 3 m random antenna, from one of my favourite monitoring sites at the Jumping Creek Reserve, near the Yarra River.
In our mid-afternoon window, 0500 to 0600, I was impressed with mega-signals on 21 MHz , from the Middle East and Europe, arriving over the daylight short path from the west.
Excellent daytime short path signals also on 17 MHz and 15 MHz, from Europe/Middle East/Afric/Asia, as well as long path signals on 9 MHz and 11 MHz from Europe/Africa.
