EXCELLENT SIGNALS IN THE MELBOURNE AFTERNOON
The September Equinox has passed – did you see it? This is of significance for HF propagation into SE Australia as we move through our Spring season.
Solar Activity remains very low, but propagation into Melbourne continues to be very good during our mid-afternoon window.
This ix a summary of notable spectrum occupancies in the UT periods 0430 to 0500 and 0500 to 0530 on September 28 2015, at one of my favourite noise-free monitoring sites, in the Warrandyte State Park in Melbourne's outer east, next to the Yarra River, at Witton's Reserve, Wonga Park. See pix!
The dominant propagation modes were:
- 11 MHz long path from Africa, Middle East and Europe
- 11 MHz short path from the Americas
- 15 and 17 MHz short path from Africa, Middle East, Europe
- 21 MHz short path from Asia
