Solar activity remains very low, and at July 3 2019 there there were no sunspots visible on the Earth-facing side of he sun.
But we all know that HF propagation does not rely entirely on the extent of sunspot activity – low sunspot numbers and/or Solar Flux levels simply means that the effective spectrum available for long-haul, multi-hop transmissions, is compressed, which affects propagation paths following darkness or semi darkness zones.
Here in Melbourne, pre-sunrise multi-hop propagation continues to be reliable in our sunrise period, on frequencies below 10 MHz. This summary shows a selection of frequency occupancies in the 6, 7. and 9 MHz bands between 2100 and 2130 on July 2 2019.
