we'll take it!
Disappointingly, solar activity is still at a very low level - the 10.7 cm
solar flux has dropped to 83 and the SSN has fallen to 24. even though we
are now at the beginning of Cycle 24.
So not much hope for long distance multi-hop propagation above about 14 MHz
over darkness or semi-darkness paths.
But, good darkness-zone propagation into Melbourne on 13 MHz between 1700
and 1800, just before dawn!
This is a summary of what this band looked like on December 31, 2010.
13580 THAILAND VOA-Udorn Somali
13590 ZAMBIA CVC English

The 15 MHz band was also partially open, with some longpath propagation from
the Middle East, and short path from Asia:
15190 PHILIPPINES R. Filipinas, English/Tagalog *1730
15205 S. ARABIA BSKSA Arabic to 1755*
15225 S. ARABIA BSKSA Arabic to 1800*
ALBANIA
Michael is a fan of Radio Tirana! The 2100 English service at 2100-2130 on
9895 was very good on Dec 31! Station plays lots of Albanian folk music, but
that's not really my thing....
DIGITAL TV
I bought a nice shiny new 32" widescreen TV set the other day - AWA brand
made in China. As I am in a high signal strength area here in the eastern
suburbs, the UHF digital channels are excellent strength with a little
indoor antenna.
I have five old non-digital 4:3 TV sets for disposal, all in working order,
so I think I will arrange delivery to Rob Wagner's place shortly...!
Regards from Melbourne!
