Monitoring Report - 13 MHz spectrum

I did some research in the 13 MHz band this morning, in the Melbourne pre-dawn window.

 

This is what the band looked like between 1800 and 1830 – most activity was from Asia/Africa/ME/Europe, short path across the darkness zone.

Note: VOA pumping English and Sudanese content from Iranawila (Sri Lanka) into East Africa – 250 kW. Lots of back-lobe energy into Melbourne via the Indian Ocean/Asia path. Primary azimuth is  275 (13715) and 285 (13755) degrees – we get this via 85/75 degrees. Must be mega-sigs in East Africa!
